📚 Overview

Patch 3.5 is a foundational systems update. Rather than focusing on a single course or feature, this release expands the core architecture of CodeKings — how rewards are delivered, how content is authored, and how progression is visually represented.

This patch introduces three major pillars:

This update is deliberately systems-heavy. It lays the groundwork for future content, AI-driven lesson creation, seasonal events, and item-based progression.

🎁 Mystery Box System 3.0 — 3D & Animated

Mystery Boxes have been fully rebuilt from static images into real-time 3D models. Each box is now rendered using Three.js with lighting, rotation, glow effects, and opening animations.

This recording shows the actual production system — not a mockup. The lid animation, timing, reward reveal, and glow effects are all driven by the same code used in the live store.

đŸ”ĸ Odds System Redesign

The previous weight-based RNG system has been removed. Patch 3.5 introduces a 1 / X odds model that clearly communicates reward probabilities.

📊 Analytics & Distribution Tracking

A comprehensive analytics dashboard was built to monitor real-time reward distribution and ensure the 1/X odds system functions correctly. This tool tracks:

Technical Deep Dive: The initial implementation used a "first hit wins" system that heavily favored common rewards. After 14,000+ test boxes revealed consistent underperformance of rare tiers (-60% to -80%), the algorithm was redesigned to:
  • Pick the rarest successful roll instead of the first
  • Implement re-roll mechanics when no rewards hit
  • Remove artificial fallbacks that biased toward common items
This brought all reward tiers within ±5-15% of expected values — exactly what true RNG should produce.

Weapons are now more than cosmetic. New Rogue weapons introduce persistent, passive bonuses that directly affect progression.

🌌 New Theme — VoidBound

VoidBound introduces a darker, cosmic visual language designed for extended coding sessions. The theme reduces visual fatigue while reinforcing CodeKings' fantasy-tech identity.
